Privacy policy

ClearPath EMDR Therapy ("ClearPath", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

This policy covers our website only. The clinical records kept by your counsellor are governed separately by your counsellor's professional and regulatory obligations and the consent forms you complete when you begin care.

Information we collect

We collect the information you choose to give us, and a small amount of technical information needed to run the site:

• Consultation requests. When you request a free consult, we collect your name, email address, and phone number so we can contact you to arrange it.
• Messages you send us. If you email or message us, we keep that correspondence so we can respond.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, to keep the site secure and reliable.

We do not ask you to share details about your mental health or history through this website, and we ask that you not include sensitive clinical details in a consult request. There will be time for that, privately, once you are connected with a counsellor.

How we use your information

• To respond to your consultation request and arrange a time to talk.
• To reply to questions or messages you send us.
• To operate, secure, and improve the website.
• To meet our legal and professional obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Booking and scheduling

We are setting up online booking and intake through a third-party practice management platform (for example, a scheduling service such as Jane). When that is in place, information you enter into the booking tool is handled under that provider's privacy and security terms. We will update this policy when booking goes live.

Service providers

We rely on trusted service providers to run the practice, such as website hosting, email, and (once live) scheduling. These providers may process your information only to provide their service to us, and are expected to protect it. Where possible, we choose providers that store data in Canada or offer appropriate safeguards; some may process or store data outside Canada, in which case it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses only the cookies needed for it to function. If we add website analytics in future, we will use privacy-respecting measurement and update this policy to describe it.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, including limiting who can see it and using secure, reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information through unencrypted email.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law and our professional obligations, and then securely dispose of it.

Your choices and rights

Under PIPA, you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or withdraw your consent to our use of it (subject to legal and professional limits). You can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time.

Not a crisis service

ClearPath is not a crisis or emergency service, and this website is not monitored for urgent needs. If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or go to your nearest emergency department.
